Review

I tried something new this morning.

I ate a RightOnTrek breakfast meal. It was Cheesy Mushroom Egg Scramble. The name alone made it sound so delicious. I love cheese. I love eggs. I really love mushrooms. But I never thought about putting mushrooms in scrambled eggs.

So, I just had to check this meal out.

And now that I’ve finished my plate, I want to give you an overall review of what I thought about this RightOnTrek breakfast meal.

RightOnTrek Breakfast Meal

First Impressions of the RightOnTrek Breakfast Meal

It looks like a delicious meal on the front of the package, but that’s how package marketing works. Putting the best photo on the front makes people want to try it.

I noticed immediately that the RightOnTrek breakfast meal is Keto, gluten-free, and vegetarian-safe. That’s a good thing. It makes the meal healthy for anyone who wants to try it.

It was made in Montana! Made in the USA is a big plus for me.

The packaging said it would cook in eight minutes, and that’s how long it took, give or take a few extra minutes. So I’d at least expect a ten-minute meal which is quick.

The packaging is strong but looks pretty biodegradable, and upon further reading, it says, “Sustainable bio-based packaging.”

My RightOnTrek breakfast meal was a one-person meal, and in all honesty, it didn’t feel like much in the package, but I got a big enough meal where I was full after eating it alone with no extra sides.

Pros/Cons of the RightOnTrek Breakfast Meal

There are a few pros and cons worth mentioning.

Pros:

  • Made in the USA
  • Keto/No Gluten/Vegetarian Safe
  • Low Cook Time
  • Easy Cooking Instructions (six steps on the back)
  • Excellent Taste
  • No seasoning needed
  • Came with cooking oil pouch
  • A lot of other options on their website

Cons:

  • I had to coat my pot with beeswax, which was not included. I’ve never used beeswax for anything. It isn’t something I see taken into the backcountry.
  • There were more steps than most backpacking meals have on them. It takes a bit extra work to cook these meals.

The pros outweigh the cons for this RightOnTrek breakfast meal review. I recommend checking it out before taking the cons to heart. Maybe more people use beeswax than I am aware of. Should I use it more?

How Did the RightOnTrek Breakfast Meal Taste?

Wonderfully!

Really! It tasted delicious. I was shocked by how good it tasted. So many backpacking meals look tastier on the package than they are. Most are scrumptious but less delicious than they seem based on the packaging picture.

The RightOnTrek breakfast meal looked exactly like it did on the package after I cooked it based entirely on the instructions that came with it.

I could taste the cheese and eggs, but the mushroom taste stood out and blended in well. I ate it all pretty quickly; that’s how good it was.

I would eat this one again. However, it would be difficult for me to try their other flavors because I would want to keep getting this one over and over again because it tasted so good.

My overall opinion of the RightOnTrek breakfast meal is that it’s a great option to add to your backpacking and camping food choices. You can get this particular meal in a one-person or two-person package. The prices are cheap, too! You can even create your own meal plan on their website. So go check them out and give them a try. You’ll enjoy it!
